The Historic Route by

Day 1: ARRIVAL AT ADDIS ABABA:
Arrival at Bole International Airport (Addis Ababa) where you will
be met by a Ghion Travel and Tours representative and transferred to
your hotel. Overnight in your hotel in Addis.
Day 2: BAHIR DAR: Transfer to
the Air Port and fly to Bahir Dar.After lunch drive to the mighty
Blue Nile falls, commonly known as "Tis Isat". Upon return, make a
sightseeing tour of Bahir Dar Overnight stay will be in your Hotel.
Day3: LAKE TANA: After an early
breakfast you will have boat excursion on Lake Tana, to visit the
ancient monasteries on the lake. After noon visit the town of Bahir
Dar. Overnight stay will be in your hotel.
Day4: GONDAR: Transfer to the
Air Port and fly to Gondar. After check in to the hotel, Visit the
17th century castles, the Bath of King Fasiledes, the icon- rich
monastery of Debre Berehan Silassie. Overnight stay will be in your
Hotel.
Day5: LALIBELLA: Transfer to the
Air Port and fly to the legendary town of Lalibella. After check in
to the hotel, visit the 11 rock-hewn churches in Lalibella town,
dating back to the 12th century and which is considered to be the
8th wonders of the world. Overnight stay will be in your hotel.
Day6: LALIBELLA AND SUROUNDING:
Have half day optional excursion to visit some of the rock hewn
churches around Lalibella town built prior to the churches in the
town. In addition to the architecture of the churches, here you will
admire the panoramic view of the town with the surrounding beautiful
sceneries. Return to Lalibella for lunch. After lunch visit the
remaining churches of the 11 monolithic rock-hewn churches in
Lalibella town. Overnight stay will be in your Hotel.
Day7: AXUM:Transfer to the Air
port and fly to Axum. After check in to the hotel, have a city tour
in Axum town. Here you will visit stale tombs, which is considered
to be probably the oldest monolithic stand in the world, the church
compound of St. Mary of Zion, which is the seat of the true Moose's
Ark of the covenant, the Queen of Sheba's palace, King Kaleb's and
Gebremeskel's palace and tombs, and Archeological Museum. Overnight
stay will be in your hotel.
Day8: ADDIS ABABA: Transfer to
the airport and fly back to Addis Ababa. Overnight stay will be in
your hotel.
Day 9: CITY TOUR AND DEPARTURE:
Sightseeing tour that includes Trinity Cathedral-a beautiful church
with a baroque style of European Architecture unique to both
Ethiopia and Africa, National Museum-the home of the famous complete
hominid fossil remain of Lucy dated 3.5 millions years back,
Ethnological Museum-presents different collections to have an
overview of the history, culture, tradition and religions of almost
all tribal groups in Ethiopia, St. George Cathedral and Museum-a
historical church with the traditional Ethiopian Orthodox Church
architecture founded by Emperor Menelik-II, Mount Entoto panoramic
view point at the highest pick in Addis with an altitude of 3200
meters, The Merkato: the biggest open air market in Africa. Evening
welfare dinner party with national music and dancing, and transfer
to Bole International Airport for your flight back home.
