Day 1: Arrival at Addis Ababa
Bole International airport, met by Ghion Travel and Tours
representative and transfer to Hotel.
Day 2: MENAGESHA FOREST: Drive
to the west of Addis Ababa to reach Menagesha-Suba forest. Before
and after lunch you will have bird watching. In addition to many
other birds you would see the endemic Blue-winged Goose. Return to
Addis Ababa for your overnight in Hotel.
Day 3: DEBRE LIBANOS AREA: In
the morning drive out of Addis in the northern direction. You would
get great opportunity to see birds in the Sululta Plain. Continue
driving to Debre Libanos, a 12th century monastery located in a
valley. In addition to birds you will visit historical monastery of
Debre Libanos, the attractive landscape and the endemic Gelada
Baboon. After lunch return to Addis Ababa for overnight in Hotel.
Day 4: DEBRE ZEIT AREA: Drive to Debre Zeit 50 km east of
Addis Ababa. The creator lakes around and the savanna environment
are known for the abundant aquatic and savanna birds. Overnight in
hotel in Debere Zeit.
Day 5: AWASH NATIONAL PARK:
Drive to Awash National Park with many stops for birding in many
different swampy areas. After lunch birding in Awash National park.
Overnight in hotel.
Day 6: AWASH AREA: Early in the
morning start bird watching in the park; this is known to have more
than 400 species of birds. Secretary bird is among the many species
you would see. Dinner and overnight in hotel.
Day 7: AWASSA AREA: Drive to
Awassa a beautiful town on the shore of Lake Awassa with stops on
the way for birding. Late after noon stroll on Lake Awassa's shore
would give you the chance to observe many different species of birds
in close distance. Marabou Storks, kingfishers, Ducks and Geese are
among others. Overnight in Wabishebele Hotel.
Day 8: WONDO GENET AREA: Drive
to Wondo Genet area to observe forest bird species. Lovely weather,
hot spring and landscape and view of coffee plantation will be
additional experience for clients. Overnight in Wabishebele Hotel.
Day 9: ADDIS ABABA: In the
morning drive back to Addis Ababa with many stops for bird watching.
Overnight in hotel.
Day 10: Transfer to Bole
International airport for Departure.
